In general future improvements in health will come about only as people assume a greater responsibility for their own health and for the health of the community. This is a spiritual problem calling for changes in behavior and not a medical problem calling for a medical break-through.
The purpose of Brinnon Community Church's Health Ministry is to nurture the Christian spirit through health education, spiritual support, and linking the needs of the whole person to resources within the congregation, community, and the health care system.
The parish nurse serves the congregation and the community in the roles of personal health counselor, health educator, advocate and referral source for health care services, facilitator of volunteers and support groups, and interpreter of the relationship between faith and health.
The parish nurse is Bonnie Rodgers R.N., M.S.N.who has been commissioned as a parish nurse after taking the course offered through Puget Sound Parish Nurse Ministries. The Health Ministry Task Force includes: Myrtle Corey, Tom Fields, Margie Mueller, Jean Wasell, and Jay Zelen. |
